Solemn Assembly 2026
Every January, our church family sets aside sacred time to seek God's face together through prayer and fasting. This year, Solemn Assembly runs from Monday, January 5th at 12:01am through Saturday, January 10th at noon.Fasting isn't about what we give up—it's about what we gain. When we create space by setting aside something we'd otherwise miss, we make room to encounter God in fresh ways. Maybe it's food, social media, entertainment, or something else that occupies your time and attention. Whatever you choose to fast from, replace that time with the daily prayer prompts we've prepared for you. Each day focuses our hearts on a different aspect of kingdom life.
MONDAY
Kingdom Worship: A Passion for God's Word, Worship, Prayer, and Praise
The psalmist declared, "As a deer longs for flowing streams, so I long for you, God. " (Psalm 42:1). This holy thirst is the heartbeat of a healthy church. Scripture calls us to approach God's Word with hunger, knowing it transforms us from the inside out (Matthew 4:4). True worshipers engage with their whole being—heart, soul, mind, and strength—because God actively seeks those whose hearts are fully devoted to Him (John 4:23).
Today, as a church, we pray that God would ignite within us a renewed passion for His Word, a deeper devotion in our worship, a fervency in our prayers, and an authenticity in our praise. May we not settle for spiritual complacency but instead pursue Him with the desperation of those who know that in His presence there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).

TUESDAY
Kingdom Community: Prayer for Leaders
The Apostle Paul explicitly charges us to pray on behalf of leaders—not only in the church but also in government and every sphere of authority (1 Timothy 2:1-4).
When Paul wrote this, many leaders were nonbelievers, yet the call to pray applied nonetheless. God, in His sovereignty, uses leaders to accomplish His purposes, turning the hearts of kings wherever He wills (Proverbs 21:1). Within our church, our Elders, Staff, and lay leaders carry significant responsibility for spiritual health and direction. The author of Hebrews reminds us that our prayers sustain those who shepherd us (Hebrews 13:17). We also seek the welfare of our city, knowing that as our community thrives, we thrive (Jeremiah 29:7).
Today, as a church, we pray for leaders at every level—our elders, staff, and lay leaders who guide ECBC; community leaders who serve our city; and government officials at the local, state, and national level. May God grant them wisdom, integrity, and hearts inclined toward His holy will (Psalm 21:1-9).

WEDNESDAY
Kingdom Worship: Abiding in Jesus
In attempting to live out our kingdom citizenship, we can easily fall into the trap of expending our energy working for Jesus not grounding ourselves in being with Jesus. Yet our Lord made it clear that fruitfulness flows from intimacy, not activity: “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me” (John 15:4).
The word “abide” speaks of dwelling and remaining—an ongoing, intimate connection. Jesus promises that those who abide will bear much fruit (John 15:5, 7-8), and the result of such abiding is complete joy (John 15:9-11).
Today, as a church, we pray that Embassy would more deeply abide in Jesus. May we ground ourselves in being with Him, not merely working for Him. May His words dwell richly in us, that we might bear lasting fruit for His glory and experience the fullness of His joy.
Scripture Reading: John 15:1-11
THURSDAY
Kingdom Mission: Prayer for Missionaries
Christ assured us that we would be equipped and empowered by the Spirit to make a kingdom impact “to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). We are a missional church called not only to the Denver metro area, but to partner with others seeking to uphold the gospel in places far beyond our city. We are privileged to partner with missionaries, church planters, and pastors serving in New Zealand, Ghana, Uganda, and Haiti—each region presenting unique challenges and opportunities. Paul’s request to the Colossians is fitting: “Pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ” (Colossians 4:3).
Our missionaries benefit not just from our financial support, but also from our prayers for open doors, spiritual protection, and fruitful ministry.
Today, as a church, we pray for missionaries serving in New Zealand, Ghana, Uganda, and Haiti. May God bless their efforts, open doors for the gospel, provide for their every need, and grant them perseverance in the work to which He has called them. We also pray that the gospel would continue to spread worldwide, reaching every nation, tribe, and tongue.

FRIDAY
Kingdom Community: Growth in Our Ministries
The body of Christ is a living organism in which every member plays a vital role. Paul writes, "God has put the body together...that the members may have the same concern for one another" (1 Corinthians 12:24-25). At Embassy, this interconnected body life takes shape through our various ministries: Missional Communities for deep fellowship and shared mission; Kids and Students ministries investing in the next generation; Women's and Men's ministries for gender-specific discipleship; Seasoned Saints who carry enriching wisdom; and Young Adults navigating life transitions together. When one ministry thrives, the whole body is strengthened. The author of Hebrews exhorts us to "stir up one another to love and good works" (Hebrews 10:24). Ministry growth requires not only willing hearts but also faithful stewardship of resources. Paul reminded the Corinthians that generous sowing leads to generous reaping, and that God "is able to make all grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work" (2 Corinthians 9:6-8). As our financial resources grow, so does our capacity to expand kingdom impact.
Today, as a church, we pray for growth in every ministry at ECBC—our Missional Communities, Kids, Students, Women's, Men's, Seasoned Saints, and Young Adults. We also pray for growth in our financial resources, that we might have all we need to fund the vision God has given us and increase our kingdom impact. May God raise up faithful leaders, draw new participants, deepen the discipleship happening in each context, and cultivate generous hearts among us. May these ministries flourish for His glory and the building up of His church.
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Hebrews 10:24-25; Ephesians 4:11-16; 2 Corinthians 9:6-11
SATURDAY
Kingdom Mission: Embassadors in Our Community
As we conclude this week of prayer and fasting, we turn to our calling as ambassadors of Christ: “We are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20). This calling is both corporate and individual. As a church, ECBC represents Christ to the Denver metro area; as individuals, each of us carries this responsibility in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and homes. Today, we specifically lift up the Virginia Vale and Virginia Village neighborhoods and the schools in our immediate area—our “Jerusalem” where God has strategically planted us to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-14). As we close this week, let us also make appeals for beloved members battling physical ailments, mental turmoil, and grief.
We seek the face of God, our healer, on behalf of one another.
Today, as a church, we pray for clarity on who God is calling us—corporately and individually—to pray for and pursue. We lift up the Virginia Vale and Virginia Village neighborhoods and the schools in our area, asking God to open doors for gospel witness and loving service. May we be faithful ambassadors who accurately represent our King in every sphere of life.
